The Comparison between Two Hair System Glues

June 08, 2020 Hair System Adhesives Views: 3794

When it comes to choosing the best working hair system glue to bond your hair system, it is not a one-step thing. You need to try different glues and see how each works for you and find the best working one. For hair system glues, there are two main categories and they are water-based glue and solvent-based glue.

The following is what lavivid hair summarizes for you, the difference between two hair system glues.

Water-Based Glue vs. Solvent Based Glue

Well, from the name, it is hard to understand what water-based and solvent-based mean. Simply speaking, water-based glue means the glue can be cleaned by water and soap. While at the same time, solvent-based glue means it needs to be cleaned by solvents.

For the below picture, Great white glue is water-based and Ultra hold is solvent-based.

Compared to solvent-based glue, water-based glue provides less secure and bonding time than solvent-based glue. However, water-based glue is less likely to cause dryness, irritation or allergic for people who have sensitive skin or have skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

So if you just start to wear a hair system or you have a sensitive skin, it is recommended to choose water-based glue.

Walker Great White Glue

Great White Toupee Glue is water-based and it works for all kinds of hair systems including lace, skin, poly, or mono base units. It is comparable to Ghost Bond and it provides a holding time of 3-5 weeks. After your scalp is cleaned and applied with scalp protector, you can use sponge brushes to apply a thin, even coat of Great White onto the scalp, and blow dry until it becomes clear. You can apply one more layer after the first layer is clear. Then you can apply the hair system onto the scalp. A fresh bond needs 24 hours time to cure, so avoid shampooing, swimming or sweating heavily during this time.
